Wow it got hot quick! We've already had a few of
those days where it was too hot to sit and do
nothing, never mind work or other activity.
Just think how your computers feel. They sit
there all day running and generating heat. A
computer that is just sitting idle typically has a
processor temperature of over 100 degress. As soon
as you ask it to start doing something it can soar
to over 150 degrees!
As the weather gets warmer you should take a
moment to make sure that your computers, servers and
other electronic equipment have plenty of
ventilation. Make sure that all vents are clear of
obstacles and dust. A moment of cleaning can add
years to a piece of electronic equipment's lifespan.
A couple tips for the humans operating those
computers as well!
When outdoors in the summer be sure to follow proper
safety precautions like:
- Wear sunblock (SPF 30 minimum)
- Drink plenty of water… more than you think you
need! - Take breaks on really hot or humid days
- Wear a hat with a brim to protect your face and
neck
Of course if you'd rather be out enjoying your
summer than cleaning your computers, you can always
contact us at Turcotte Data & Designs and we'll take care of that for you!
